Punches for ceramic production are key components of molds for ceramic presses, shaping both the upper and lower faces of the pieces. Along with the liners, they are the elements that experience the most wear in molds.
At Macer, we manufacture punches for all types of pieces and formats, tailored to all manufacturing needs.
The punches are coated with vulcanized rubber to prevent the sticking of wet powder and to facilitate the application of textures and reliefs in a simple and reproducible manner.
An isostatic compensation can be added inside the punches to correct heterogeneities in load distribution. This maintains the piece’s compactness, adjusting the thickness based on load differences.
Reverse punches shape the relief on the lower face of the tiles and are coated with vulcanized rubber. They often include oil compensation.
In some models, the back side is determined based on the relief to minimize compaction differences. Since the relief on the back guarantees a stable base for transport by rollers, Macer pays special attention to its design.
Back side or reverse are common terms used to describe the relief on the lower face of tiles.
Smooth ceramic pieces can be made in different ways, including using punches without rubber. In this case, the pressing powder comes into direct contact with the steel. This is used only for designs where a very smooth, high-quality texture is required for specific products, such as when using micronized powders or flakes.
For punches with rubber, it can be applied with very thin layers, significantly increasing stiffness and allowing for better textures in smooth pieces.
With these punches, we press pieces with a structured or low-relief design, for the production of both flooring and cladding.
These designs often replicate natural textures such as stones, wood, rustic patterns, and also geometric structures with subtle reliefs (less than 1.0 mm).
Relief punches have been gaining prominence in the ceramic sector for several years. These pieces allow for the production of reliefs up to 10 mm, enabling more complex and detailed designs.
We continuously monitor the environment to improve our proposal to the customer, through the development of new designs, product improvements and improvements in technical assistance.
We are suppliers of solutions for the ceramic industries, offering customisation and adapting our product to the needs of each client.
We develop our ceramic moulds taking into account the dimensional characteristics, aesthetics and technical possibilities.
